My Vision

Driving geo-environmental and ecological sustainability through the application of cutting-edge science. We are dedicated to understanding complex issues and challenges in arid and semi-desert climates, with a focus on integrated watershed management and the preservation of natural resources for future generations.

Sedimentology

I explore the ecosystems and dynamics of lakes, focusing on their geological history, biogeochemistry, and interaction with climate change. Through sedimentological studies and paleoclimatic analyses, I investigate the environmental records preserved in lakes, uncovering how these water bodies have evolved over time and their impact on local and global ecosystems.

Key Milestones

  • FONDECYT de Iniciación 11220930
  • FONDEYT Postdoctoral 3180368
  • HOLOCHILL: Holocene Global Change from the Tropics to the Mediterranean region of Chile reconstructed from Lake Sediment Records (18º-36ºS).
  • MEDLAND: Depositional and geochemical dynamics of MEDiterranean Watershed-Lake Systems (WLS) during the ANThropocene: disentangling human and climate forcings.

Biogeochemistry

I study the chemical, physical, biological, and geological processes that regulate nutrient cycling and organic matter decomposition in aquatic environments. By analyzing the interactions between organisms, sediments, and water chemistry, I seek to understand how lakes respond to environmental changes and their influence on larger ecological and climate systems
